This post is all about how to plan your week.
Plan Your Week
I personally love to look ahead and plan my week on Sunday or Monday morning, that’s when I’m ready to strategize and most motivated to set up my week for goals.
However, maybe you’re more of a last-minute planner. Like, you know what will happen during your day but how that all fits into your week is a little more obscure.
If that’s you, planning your week ahead could be the perfect trick to make more room for peace in your life.
Whether you like to make detail-oriented weekly plans or have more flexibility, these are the top secrets to planning your week for productivity.
First, what will help you to plan your week?
The number one thing that will help you plan your week is knowing what you actually need to accomplish.
Yep, it’s that simple! If you don’t have a goal in mind then it’s hard to know what to prioritize.
When you know what needs to be done then you can start planning around certain tasks and using any free time to work towards that goal/project.
There are a couple of obligations that won’t vary week to week, usually your job or school and other chores like grocery shopping and laundry. However, that leaves a lot of time that can be quickly wasted if you’re not paying attention!
And balance is key, it’s much better for your mental health to balance the week so you’re not completely overwhelmed one day while you twiddled your thumbs another.

Keeping that in mind, this formula will definitely help—
Planning your week template
I recently got a planner from The Dailee and it is perfect because it has a Weekly Overview at the beginning of every week to organize my schedule.
However, if you don’t have a planner like that no need to worry! You can organize your own overview with these five focus areas:
- Important to-do’s — Tasks or chores that you need to get done, anything you don’t want to forget to do this week should go here
- This week’s deadlines — Anything that’s due for work, school, or any other obligations
- Top 3 priorities — It’s important that you only choose three priorities here, if you have more than three it’s likely that they aren’t all priorities
- Habit Tracker — Pick four habits you’d like to track this week and try to be as specific as you can (specificity helps focus!)
- Notes — This is your catch-all for anything you might be forgetting, or that doesn’t really apply to the other focus areas, but you need to remember for this week
(There’s also a space in my planner to write out each day’s workout and meals which is super helpful!)
Once you have your five focus areas, start to fill them out and by the end, you’ll have a good idea of what needs to get done this week!
Then as you look at your week, start to assign certain tasks from your to-do list throughout the week, and be sure to pen the deadlines into their according days.
