Top 10 Books Every Woman Should Read
I love a good story as much as the next girl but I also love that aha! moment when you’re reading self-help books and they are clicking into place.
Therefore a healthy mix of novels and personal growth books will be dispersed throughout this list and I can hardly wait!
1. A Happy Pocket Full Of Money
By David Cameron Gikandi
If you’re book buying based solely on the front cover, then this book wins over and over again. Because A) it’s gorgeous.
And B) it’s going to totally surprise you. I confess that I had no idea what this book was going to be about when I checked it out from the library – I’m a total library nerd and that’s why I don’t own half these titles I love.
This book is all about “true wealth” and how wealth consciousness shows the actual value abundance.
Money doesn’t equal wealth and to understand true abundance, we must appreciate the value in our lives and believe that to have it all, we already have it all.
Trust me, you won’t want to put it down.
2. Atomic Habits
By James Clear

If this hasn’t been recommended to you so many times already, here’s one more time. I got this book for Christmas and didn’t put it down until it was done.
Everyone is trying to do the most nowadays and it can be completely overwhelming if you are struggling to follow through on your goals. However, this book does a wonderful job of laying the foundation to create habits and actually stick to the routines you start.
Thus achieving your goals! If you need a book to reignite that passion and motivate you to make moves, this is it.
3. The Forty Rules Of Love
By Elif Shafak
Golly okay, so this isn’t technically under the self-help genre however this novel exposes our fear of heart-following between the pages of a gorgeous story.
We read two narratives, one of our present-day unhappily married, middle-aged, female protagonist Elle. The other of Shams, a thirteenth-century whirling dervish, set out to mentor Rumi, one of the greatest scholars turned love poet ever.
Between these two stories, I couldn’t help but find myself in there too and trust me, I needed the lessons Shams was teaching.
Take my word for it and see if you can’t find yourself taking lessons as well!
4. Professional Troublemaker
By Luvvie Ajayi Jones
Alright, I could go on and on for many moons about how much I love Luvvie and her book.
She’s all that and more, this book is all about tackling fear and stepping into who you’re meant to be, in all your greatness.
I’ll keep this brief here because I did a whole fangirl blog post about it here:

5. The Alchemist
By Paulo Coelho
Here’s another novel that reads like a story and sprinkles self-discovery truths all along the way.
Honestly, this book is like a life coach reminding us of the importance of following our dreams, listening to our hearts, and recognizing opportunities throughout our journeys.
Plus it’s a quick read!
There’s a reason it’s sold millions of copies around the world and been translated for everyone to enjoy, read for yourself and find out.
6. Pussy: A Reclamation
By Regena Thomashauer

I think that this quote about the book says it all:
“Required reading for every woman who longs to step into her power and live with pleasure and purpose.”
Kris Carr, New York Times best-selling author
And I’ve devoted an entire blog post to loving on it, so definitely read more here:

7. The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck
By Mark Manson
Oh the freedom of not caring about anything – and trust me, you don’t really have to care about anything.
Before you backtalk me and say that it’s important to care about certain things and it’s stupid to go through life without passions, crack open this book.
There’s so much more power in knowing when not to give a flying F, and this book is the perfect tool to unlock that IDGAF attitude. Trust me, you need that more often than you’d think!
8. Why Not Me?
By Mindy Kaling
At the exact top of my list of people I pray to meet one day, sitting on her lovely throne, is Mindy Kaling. Oh man oh man would my life just be peaches if that happened?!
I’ll consume anything she creates, I love her shows and her books. Her writing style and wit are something I personally use as my own inspiration.
So while I recommend you read everything she’s written, a special shoutout to this title here.
It’s her journey of finding contentment and excitement about life that’s entirely relatable (and I thoroughly believe that reading about it in someone else’s life makes it less lonely in my own life, ya know?).
9. We Should All Be Feminists
By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

The quickest, easiest read of your life and the perfect explanation for those that, erm, “don’t understand” feminism.
Originally adapted from her TEDx Talk, which you should watch below, this is the eloquently argued essay you needed (and likely, you know many other people need too).
10. The Mastery Of Love
By Miguel Ruiz
Last but certainly not least, this book packed a wallop that I was entirely not prepared for. Holy moly is that saying the least.
This is essentially a wisdom bomb for human relationships and daily life (tip of the iceberg there) but here’s what did it for me and why this is on my list:
Faults I didn’t see in myself were pointed out by this book in the most loving way. I hate finding out I’m doing something that could be done in a different, more harmonious, and loving way (because in my head I’m always doing everything right).
But that’s why we need books like this, to open our eyes and kindly nudge us towards a new path. What’s more worthwhile pursuit than learning to love in our relationships more?
