…it’s easier than you think!
Cherish the beginning of a month.
I have a special fondness for the 1st of the month, I love going through the previous month’s goals and checking the boxes of my successes. Big or little, there’s nothing like knowing you got it done.
Writing down your goals at the beginning of the month also keeps you accountable and motivated to actually complete the goals, and helps you prioritize your life better.
And you’ll want to make sure they’re smart goals!
Huh? Smart goals?
You’ve probably seen this before and not given it a second thought, but if you’re not writing smart goals then you’re not doing yourself any favors. Make sure you’re goals are –
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Realistic
- Time-based
Like I’ve mentioned before, I like to have a journal dedicated to these goals specifically, one that I’ll check in with throughout the month. And I like to write goals into three categories (financial, health/wellness, and general happiness).
So where do you start? What does the “ideal” goal look like?
Good not perfect.
You’re more likely to tackle a goal if it’s feasible, so don’t aim crazy high. You want to challenge yourself but writing down “Be a Millionaire” is only going to disappoint you if you can’t check that box at the end of one month – if you can, please contact me immediately.
I like to make them month specific too, so if we’re going into the spring there might be some cleaning-oriented goals or outdoors-oriented goals for the summer.
Whatever you choose for yours, give yourself some variety and grace – pick goals that could be month-long and goals that could be completed in a day – but you must write them down!
Here’s a couple of mine for the month:
- Spring cleaning – closet (go through clothes in closet and dresser to be kept, donated, tossed)
- Go to boxing classes at least 3x a week (new thing I’m doing, I’ll let you know how it goes)
- Finish reading at least two books
- Review subscriptions and unsubscribe if no longer relevant
So let’s make those goals specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-based AND applicable to your trifecta of a well-rounded life. I believe in you!
Good luck and let me know your smart goals for March!
