I’ve gone through so many phases and have tried so many self development ideas but these are the activities for personal development I’d actually recommend.
And remember, personal development doesn’t have to feel like a chore. You should ENJOY yourself too!
This post is all about personal development activities.
Best Personal Development Activities
1. Journal

Journaling is free therapy. Writing and letting it out on paper can be as cathartic of an experience as venting to a licensed professional.
It *can* be.
Crack open to a page and start writing, whether about your current situations or what your aspirations are, and you’ll notice how liberating it feels to put it out in the universe.
Journaling also helps you process feelings, emotions, and thoughts you didn’t even realize were there!
2. Read a book

One of my personal favorites, I love to read books that are meant to help you grow.
Some great titles to start with are Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown, Atomic Habits by James Clear, and Professional Troublemaker by Luvvie Ajayi Jones.
They’ll motivate you, give you the hard truth, point you in the right direction, and make you feel all sorts of inspirational ways!
3. Listen to a podcast

Listening to podcasts of other people telling their success stories is a great way to inspire your own growth!
Anything seems impossible until someone else does it first, there’s power in knowing something is achievable and has been achieved.

4. Have an honest conversation with someone (that you’ve been avoiding)

It can be hard not to question yourself and want to dwell on the past.
Is there something better you could have done before to change your relationship with a person now?
There will never be an easy time to have a hard conversation but the best way to grow as a person and release any regrets is to have that honest communication.
Call them up or meet in person, and face your fears!
5. Write a thank you letter to yourself

How often are you embracing your strengths and acknowledging the fantastic qualities you possess?
That’s not a trick question – you deserve recognition from yourself!
Take a moment to write a thank you to yourself and embrace the qualities you’re grateful for.
6. Create a vision board

It’s better to be moving in the right direction slowly than in circles quickly.
Creating a vision board is a fun way to align your goals and display them in an aesthetically pleasing way that you can be inspired by every day!

7. Try something you’ve always been curious about

Whatever it might be if you’ve been too timid to try something intriguing to you… BE BRAVE and try it!
Don’t wait for someone else’s availability to do an activity that you’ve been interested in.
There’s nothing wrong with being a beginner and being willing to learn the ropes, no one is a professional the first time and it could be something you’ll enjoy!
8. Write a personal development essay

This can go along with journaling but writing about yourself and what you want is the best way to discover yourself and your intentions.
It can feel like we’re young and we’re going to be around for a long time but that doesn’t mean you can’t hope for some great achievements to happen in that time!
The best way to ensure you accomplish them is by understanding what your exact intentions are.

9. Create a routine

If you’re trying to grow physically, spiritually, emotionally (all the ‘ally’s you can), then routines are the best way to create consistency.
Having a routine will challenge you to continuously prioritize something you’ve decided is important – long after you’re motivated to do so!
10. Invest in self care

The best investment you make is in yourself.
Personal development doesn’t necessarily have to mean you’re investing in learning and growing either.
It can be as simple as investing in healthy nutrition, clean body/skin products, a way to stay physically active, etc.
11. Schedule time for yourself weekly

Perhaps the most important of all, make sure you’re finding time for yourself.
Days get busy and weeks seem to fly by so you can’t let yourself fall to the wayside.
Make sure you’re prioritizing yourself and time to have to yourself (do with it whatever you please!).
