This blog post is a reminder that no one is coming to save you – and that’s okay.
Be honest with yourself.
Let’s start with the queen of motivational, Mel Robbins.
Quick backstory in case you’ve never heard of Mel, it’s time to get acquainted with her name –
- She went from $800,000 in debt to being one of the most trusted and relatable voices in personal development today
- For 35 years she had struggled with anxiety, panic attacks, and the impact of untreated childhood trauma
- She’s held 12 different careers
- 5 Number One books released on audible
- And over 26 MILLION views of her TEDx Talk “How To Stop Screwing Yourself Over”
If anyone can be preaching a pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps mentality, it’s Mel.
And that’s why she’s the perfect reminder that no one is coming to save you (and that’s okay)!
So let’s break this down.
No one is coming to…
No one is coming to push you.
Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) there is this misconception that successful people, the “big players” out there, are just naturally ambitious and motivated.
While they may have more ambition and dream a little bigger than the average joe, that isn’t why they’re so successful.
It’s because they can push themselves even when they don’t want to.
Everyone would rather lay around and let life happen to them, it’s the comfortable choice and immediate gratification to kick your feet up.
But successful people know the delayed gratification is much more worth it.
That pushing themselves to work harder now, exercise more now, do the uncomfortable thing now will give them ultimate comfort in the long run.
We’re not kids anymore, no one is forcing us to do the right thing, and we must decide to either take our life into our own hands and own total responsibility or make excuses.

It’s your responsibility to make your dreams come true.
This might be a my-generation thing, but have you ever had the fantasy of modeling scouts finding you at the mall and just seeing your poise, your A-Lister Waiting To Be Discovered-able face, and offering you a fat contract?
That doesn’t happen.
As a child, the only way I could comprehend some people getting famous and rich was if success found them and plucked them off the street.
Be here’s the reality of it all:
Do you want to become famous?
Then you need to become phenomenal at what you do.
How do you become phenomenal at what you do?
Repetition. You practice over and over again.
Even when you could make millions of excuses to not get started or keep going, to cheat your progress and quit early.
Recognize when you’re the only one stopping yourself.
(Here’s your reminder that hard work always leads to success!)
But you’ve tried and nothing has worked before?
If you’re not seeing results, then you have to take a closer look at what you’re doing.
No one is going to boop in and say “well, I can tell you want it so I guess, here you can have it!” and wave their wand to grant your wishes.
If you’re not making progress then you haven’t tried everything yet.
Obviously, we’d all love to have someone else’s looks or fortune or talents but we aren’t willing to admit what they’ve sacrificed and given to earn those things.
Are you willing to sacrifice your comfort zone?
You’re not changing if you aren’t changing anything.
(Reminder, you are your own biggest roadblock!)
If no one is coming…
Don’t let that sentiment depress you.
Let it motivate you and help you realize that everything you’ve ever wanted is up to you.
If you are willing to put in the work and fail many times, so long as you never give up, you WILL find success.
When you give up, that’s the only way you’re ensuring you’ll never see your dreams actualized.
