If creating affirmations to use daily seems like a daunting task, this how-to will show you the best way to make empowering affirmations!

Let me preface this by saying that creating affirmations doesn’t mean you just write affirmations 100 times a day.
Creating your own affirmations is an empowering way to commune with the universe and manifest your best self. Your affirmations should resonate with what you truly desire for yourself or in your life.
So let’s get started and explore how to make meaningful, strong affirmations and mantras that you can use every day.
This post is all about creating affirmations.
Creating Affirmations
Who are you right now?
To begin, grab a piece of paper and imagine your life as it is right now – whether you hate it or love it, just focus on the specifics.
Once you are ready to start jotting it all down, here are a couple of questions to inspire your journaling —
What is your relationship like with yourself? What’s your relationship like with others?
How do you feel about your current job, living situation, money situation, etc?
Do you feel confident every day?
Do you enjoy what you do?
Do you feel fulfilled?
Take some time to really analyze your feelings and find the gaps where you wish something might be different. Be honest with the areas you are satisfied or not satisfied with.

And this isn’t limited to tangible things or relationships, it could also be your traits and skills – is there something you wish you were better at like communication or not holding a grudge?
Those count too so jot them down and once you’re done, we’re moving on to your dream life!
Who do you want to become?
Now that you know what your life looks like currently and some areas you desire to grow in, brainstorm what your ideal life looks like.
Here are a couple of questions to get you on the right track —
What do you do? Do you feel aligned with your work and are you passionate about that work?
Who do you hang around with? What kinds of relationships do you have? How do your peers perceive you?
How do you take care of yourself? How do you talk to yourself and perceive yourself?
Once you have a good idea of the life you desire, now we can start creating your affirmations!
How To Write Affirmations
1. Write in the present tense.
Perhaps the most important part of using affirmations is that they are PRESENT and not FUTURE tense.
You have to tell yourself (and manifest) that you have everything you desire right now versus that you’ll have everything “one day” whenever.
If you aren’t familiar with the quantum physics/law of attraction theory, too bad because I can’t explain it that well.
HA. Jk but not really —
Essentially the theory is that you already have what you want, you just need to believe that you have it in order to have it. Does that make sense?
The idea is that because you currently don’t believe you have it, you don’t. But once you believe that you have it, then you do.
This would work better with an example: if you believe that you are a wonderful, beautiful person then you inherently are. However, if you don’t think you’re great yet or beautiful yet then technically you aren’t, because you don’t believe it’s true so it’s not.
MORAL OF THE STORY: What you believe is essentially true so when creating affirmations, you need to write them in the present tense because you have to believe what you’re writing/desiring is already yours.
2. Keep it positive.
This goes hand in hand with the theory above, if you’re surrounding yourself with negativity then negativity is all you’ll ever get.
Your affirmations should be positive desires to receive positivity back. (I admit this is a much easier step to grasp than the first step.)

3. Write so you can say it with feeling.
Lastly, you have to write with emotion. Your affirmations won’t do anything if they don’t mean something important to you.
If you don’t desire or believe in what your writing as something that you need in your ideal life then you probably don’t need an affirmation for it.
Use affirmations for what you care about and what you actually want to manifest.
You give your words power when you believe them so there’s no reason to just go through the motions. Mantras are meant to support your connection with the universe so the universe knows what you’re channeling.
When you’re not specific, clear, or passionate about your desires then you’re not going to find what you’re looking for.
Examples
While you’re creating your own, here are some affirmation examples so you can practice your manifesting!
Everything that is happening to me is happening for a positive and prosperous future.
My life is just beginning. I love who I am and I love who I’m becoming.
I am about to walk into the most abundant, balanced, wealthy, and successful period of my life. I naturally attract good fortune and I am wealthy in more ways than one. I give myself permission to prosper, and I have the power to build the life that I desire.
