Are you framing your mindset with positivity so you are celebrating small successes?
My alternative title being: do you get overwhelmed when you think of the big picture and can only focus on how far you have left to go instead of how far you’ve come?
Shall we pop into an example first?
My revenue increased by 600% from my website.
You read that right.
Last week, I received a generous email from Google Ads congratulating me that my revenue grew by 600% last month and that I’m on a roll.
After fluffing my ego with the subject line, I scroll down further to find that my estimated earnings in May was $1.59.
Yes, a buck fifty nine.
Honestly, it was a laughable moment at first since the email was gassing me up like I was some celebrity and then I come to find I can barely afford a stick of gum with my earnings, but that’s not the point I’m getting at.
This was a win for me.
A seemingly small win but a win nonetheless, and it deserves the hype Google Ads was giving it.
So, my question to you is, can you notice and start celebrating small successes too?
Success can be just starting.
You might not realize but just starting is a win in itself.
Maybe you’re thinking that you have to achieve a result for it even to be a small success, but you know how the saying goes “dead last is better than didn’t begin” – something like that, right?
Don’t let the end result overwhelm you and keep you from taking action, the time will pass anyway!
When’s the best time to start you ask?
~ right now ~
Being aware of when you have the choice to do something you’ve always done or to try a different route is the moment.
You know, the moment when you get to decide if it’s day one or one day.
By choosing future you over the temporary comfort, you’ve already made incredible progress and you really ought to pat yourself on the back for it.
Go ahead, I’ll wait.
So it’s Day 2, now what?
I hate to say it, but this is the rest of your life so stop counting the days, alright?
Celebrate your first step.
And celebrate the next twenty two million steps.
This is a little meta of me, but do you ever think about all the good habits you’ll be doing for the rest of your life?
Like you’ve already accepted you’ll brush your teeth twice a day for the rest of your existence, not because you have to for survival, but because you know that’s a worth while habit to have for tooth health.
Or something like that.
Same goes for whatever goals you have.
Be okay with building the habits and letting them take the rest of your life, and don’t set a timer for yourself!
Let every day be an opportunity to work towards that goal without rushing to the end destination.
So celebrating small successes, yeah?
So yes maybe you’re still looking in the mirror and don’t have huge booty yet or you haven’t made one million dollars, but why not celebrate the fact that you’re getting active more often or that you’ve made $1.59?
It’s all about perspective baby.
Each step takes you further down the road (*cough the road of life cough*) so why not pride yourself on each step?
And while I’m on my soapbox, don’t be so hard on yourself if you misstep!
We’re doing this for life so just course correct and find your way again, we all get lost, it’s human.
But we can decide to keep going despite swimming in the wrong direction for past half mile.
Now give it to me straight!
What are your wins lately – big or small – that we need to be recognizing and giving you a round of applause?
Let me know in the comments or on Instagram, send me a DM and I’ll dole out some congratulations!
