You might be wondering how to find an accountability partner or what does an accountability partner do?

This post is all about being an accountability partner.
Accountability Partner
Before we jump into how you can be the best partner for yourself and for others, maybe we should start with defining what a good accountability buddy does.
What does an accountability buddy do?
They keep you accountable… duh!
All jokes aside, they can be whatever you want them to be or whatever you need them to be. Daily check-ins, helping you come up with an action plan, etc.

The possibilities are endless and the most important part is just finding what you need help most with so that it becomes their main priority.
Some people love having that presence daily while others feel that weekly or monthly check-ins might be a more productive fit.
So how do you ensure you’re getting what you need?
Start by defining your goals.
Once you know what you’re working towards, it’s easier to get an idea of what tasks are necessary to complete the goal.
No matter how far off the goal might seem, right down (in detail!) exactly what it is.
Then list off every step you need to take in order to achieve that goal, whether it seems easy/difficult or specific/vague.
The more in detail you can go with these steps, the better!
Lastly, keep track of what you complete as you go so you can compare lists and watch your progress.
Accountability Checklist
I created this checklist printable as an easy visual to break down your goals!
The worst feeling when you get started working towards something new is that sense of overwhelm in the beginning. Like, ah! there’s so much to do! and then you decide you need a nap before starting because you’re already exhausted.
That’s the WORST feeling.
So this checklist is the perfect way to organize your goal into manageable tasks and you can start to chip away at them!

If it’s not something you can commit to doing for yourself or as a friend’s accountability buddy, then you should pick something else! The path of least resistance is the one you want in your life.
The more natural you can make accountability feel, then the more consistent you will be.
And remember: be honest with yourself and others about what you need to work on. If you say it’s all going well then you’re lying to yourself.
Let yourself be vulnerable when it comes to goals. If you’re trying to trick others into thinking you’re well on your way, you might be cheating yourself out of someone who would help you along the way.
